I think one of my favorite things is kayaking; it was so fun kayaking today. We accidentally got on the wrong bus this morning so we had to switch and I thought that was kind of funny. So fast-forward to around 10:00 am and we were getting in the water with kayaks. I've kayaked before but today I had to relearn how to kayak for a couple minutes. Nevertheless, it was fun. I paddled along with my friend Mackenzie for most of it, she capsized twice and I helped her both times it was kind of fun though it was cold. Towards the end, I was getting tired and I was glad to finally see the house where the canoes and kayaks were held. After I had lunch, I was feeling better and less cold, finally.
In the middle of my trip I got some time alone to myself on the river, it was very peaceful listening to the birds, the breeze, and the flow of water. It was so relaxing just sitting there floating along the river. I didn't think about much during my time of listening, no thoughts really distracted me, and I was just absorbing everything around me. The thing that stood out to me the most was the water, though the birds were adamant the river always made a trickling noise that was somewhat soothing. Overall I had a good time relaxing and zeroing in on the sounds around me.
Start with a murky base
Add gallons of water and mud
Put in overgrown weeds and flowers
Plop in a few pounds of rocks
Mix all of those together with a canoe paddle
Add a creaky dock well-worn and old
Sprinkle in some fish eggs and tadpoles like
Mosquitoes pile on of the dozens
Make sure the wind is cool and breezy
Now let it sit and let it cool off
Then distribute it to each girl and boy
Who wants a slice of the pond?
