As a class, we went to Cox Arboretum. Unlike a park or forest, arboretums serve as a sort of museum for trees and plants alike. They focus on educating and showing each plant in its entirety. When we got there, we were let off the leash and roamed around free. We went to a butterfly garden but only found one butterfly. We also went to a tree tower, which was fun, but it was very high up.
It was surprising to me that there are so many flowers just there. I try not to take many things for granted in my life as my family is fairly privileged. However, nature, I think, is something none of us should take for granted and I sadly think I have taken its beauty for granted. I took multiple photos of flowers, as I don't think I've seen them before and I'm very glad I had the chance to see these plants. The arboretum was very fun and I'm glad I was able to go.
Living deliberately is very important, and what this STEMmersion is all about too. The arboretum has taught me that there is more to nature than I thought. We are all connected to nature in one way or another, and if we learn where we're from and how we came to be it could help us live more deliberately.
Some more pictures I took of flowers and plants I saw at the arboretum
